Case in Point
Case in point. At work today, two beautiful girls came in. They had perfect bodies and sweet smiles. They wanted to split a sandwich. First, I was told no dressing. Did we have fat-free dressing she asked. I said, Probably not. She asked if we had mustard. I shook my head and apologized. Her next question was if our bread was thick. I said pretty thick and demonstrated with my hands. She hesitated and said that was fine. Even the conversation between themselves was about cutting down. I wanted to yell, "But you girls are gorgeous!" I wanted to question, "What are you worried about? Who are you trying to look good for?" Certainly not God, because God looks at our hearts - not great abs. Don't get me wrong being healthy is awesome! But obsessing over it just isn't. As women I know we all have beauty comparison issues. Believe I get 'em from time to time too. Guys have 'em too. And no matter how many times in your life you get told you're attractive it will never completely take away insecurity. Girls, even Cindy Crawford wakes up some days feeling like she weighs 300 lbs. I'll bet she even thinks that her face looks like it was hit by an 18-wheeler. And guys, I'll bet Brad Pitt get little insecurities crawling into his thoughts, and com'n you know he's married to Jennifer Aniston! Let's all love our imperfections - that's what makes us unique. And going around with my hair a mess wasn't so bad. I didn't get too many snickers. Just orders for Snickers lattes. *wink*
